My resolutions for 2008

Monday, December 31st, 2007

This past year has been awesome. If you asked me where I would be on January 1st, 2008 a year ago, I would never have guessed Seattle.

Last year, I resolved to find a job. To stay in touch with my friends after I graduate. To get a car. To be in a meaningful relationship. Make at least $500 every month. Pay rent on time, every time. To travel. To keep up my blogging habits. Check, check check check check check check, and check.

Now for 2008!

  1. Keep in touch with friends that are still in college, as well as those that will be graduating
  2. Go home and visit family more
  3. Put some money in stocks
  4. Travel (with friends)
  5. Start my own production/promotions group
  6. Introduce Austin to higher standards for parties (and liqueur)
  7. Finish working on my album
  8. Take medicine on time, every day
  9. Work out at least every other day
  10. Go hiking in the mountains at least once
  11. Go camping
  12. Be more frugal in spending my money
  13. Redesign my blog
  14. Take a picture of me standing in the middle of Times Square
  15. Make more money
  16. Keep a good and meaningful relationship
  17. Drink some really good champagne and wine
  18. Become a better DJ
  19. Make some cool friends in Seattle
  20. Learn to cook better

Movies

Is it just me, or are all the movies really crappy this time of the year? It’s like, the movie producers know you have nothing else to do but watch their crappy movie. What a rip-off.

Thinking about 2008

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007

Like I’ve mentioned before, one of my yearly rituals is making a list of resolutions. Whether or not I end up keeping my resolutions is one thing, but so far this year, I’ve been doing pretty good. Since a new year is coming up, I feel that now is a good time to start thinking about what I should work on for next year.

Or maybe I should be a bit more general. I need to start thinking about my goals for next year. Things I want to achieve. Things that I should work on is simply a means to an end, right? So ultimately, I need to a list of what I want to accomplish next year.

This year has been pretty awesome, so a part of me is feeling like it’ll be pretty difficult to do better next year. Of course, the other part of me is saying that I can always do better. That would be nice.

So really, this post is kind of like a teaser. I talk about what I’m going to talk about without giving away anything that I was going to talk about. Yeah, sucks doesn’t it?

To dual-boot or not…

Tuesday, December 11th, 2007

I’m completely obsessive-compulsive about having a clean computer. As in, I don’t want a single piece of crap on it. No spyware, no background processes that I don’t need, no stupid OEM driver software, etc. Nothing.

Right now, my install of Windows XP is a mess. I’m thinking of cleaning it up and dual-booting (or triple-boot?) Vista Ultimate and maybe Ubuntu. Should I?

Why do I blog?

Tuesday, December 4th, 2007

I never really understood why I like to keep a blog so much. On-and-off, I’ve kept a blog (either public or private) for about six years now. And the entire time, I always wondered about why I always go back to blogging, no matter how many times I tell myself I’ll stop.

Why? To remember my life. I didn’t realize it until today. So 2008 is quickly drifting towards us and I decided it would be a good idea to pull up my resolutions from last year and see how well I did. What did I realize? I couldn’t find them. Why? Because this time last year, I wasn’t blogging. I can find every one of my older resolutions, but just couldn’t find this year’s.

Hopefully, I’ll find it. Even though it’s not in my blogs, I’m sure it’s out there somewhere. I make a list every year.

Re-arranging and cleaning up

Sunday, December 2nd, 2007

You know what feels good? Tidying up my apartment and re-arranging my furniture. My bedroom now look at least 20% bigger after I re-arranged my bed and nightstand and picked up all my clothes and random stuff off the carpet. That is all.
